Scott Shagrin, CFP®

Scott Shagrin is a Co-Founder and Managing Director of Beverly Hills Private Wealth. A long-time proponent of smart and thoughtful planning, Scott often reminds clients that a failure to plan is a plan for failure.” For this reason, he spends considerable time discussing a range of scenarios and investment approaches with each client – preparing for a range of circumstances and outcomes.  

Scott is privileged to work closely with his clients in matters of asset allocation, retirement and estate planning services, existing portfolio evaluation and risk management. He is particularly proud to serve multiple generations of clients – in some cases, three generations.  

Prior to co-founding Beverly Hills Private Wealth, Scott was a Senior Vice President at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management from 2006-2022, after already spending more than 20 years at Shearson and Smith Barney.  

Having graduated from the University of Arizona in 1983 with a B.S. Degree in both Finance and Real Estate, Scott later earned his CFP® certification – an experience that has had a strong impact on how he advises clients in areas of wealth management. A lifetime learner, Scott later attended the Harvard University Executive Education Program, designed to expand ones cognitive capacity, and The Wharton School of Executive Education.

An active member of El Caballero Country Club and previous co-chair of The Federation Golf Tourney, Scott is currently a big brother for Big Brothers of Los Angeles. Scott is a very proud father of two children. Carly, a Northwestern graduate, now works for Google and Michael, a UVA Law graduate who works for a major firm in New York City. Scott and his wife Lauren Abrams married last year after a long courtship and blended their families, and he is thrilled to be a step-father to her wonderful children, Brett and Molly. They reside in Los Angeles. 

 

Ira H. Ravitz, CIMA®

Ira Ravitz is a Co-Founder and Managing Director of Beverly Hills Private Wealth. As a seasoned financial professional, Ira relishes the opportunity to work closely with clients and, when appropriate, bring in other financial specialists and clients’ legal professionals that add perspective to each situation.  

With a rich understanding of multiple market cycles, their implications and how to prepare, Ira collaborates with clients to structure programs that can help them continue to accumulate wealth, reduce risk and achieve philanthropic goals. Among Iras clients are successful individuals who wish to preserve assets as they plan for retirement and dedicated entrepreneurs whose vision and drive are embraced by Ira and shared with him.  

Ira joined Scott at Smith Barney in 1998 until their move to Merrill Lynch in 2006, where he served as a Senior Vice President in Wealth Management.  

Ira earned his undergraduate degree in Finance from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. Later, he became a registered investment adviser and earned the designation of Certified Investment Management Analyst® administered by the Investments & Wealth Institute(The Institute) and taught in conjunction with the Wharton School of Business.   

Ira can be found many afternoons playing tennis at Riviera Country Club, where he is also past-chairman of the Advisory Board.  Ira, Becky, and their newborn son Eli reside in Los Angeles, CA. 

Lisa Westermark, ChFC®

Lisa joined Scott and Ira at Merrill Lynch in 2013 after moving to Los Angeles from New York City, where she previously worked for Quilvest Private Equity. After spending five years as a client associate with the team, she transitioned into an advisory role in 2018 with an emphasis in relationship management.  

Lisa enjoys working with our next generation, and regularly interacts with the children and grandchildren of our clients to help them define their financial goals, implement investment plans, and understand the basics of personal finance. She has also found a true passion for educating women on the nuances of their unique financial journeys and regularly hosts educational seminars geared specifically towards women at all stages of life.  

Lisa received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from the prestigious Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. She is an avid lover of art, theatre, classical music, and world history. Lisa resides in Los Angeles with her husband, Kainoa, and their inspiring blind rescue dog, Poppy. 

Nick Nejad, CFA®

As the Chief Investment Officer at Beverly Hills Private Wealth, Nick plays a pivotal role in portfolio construction and security selection, diligently identifying pockets of investment opportunity while attempting to avoid areas of undue risk. He takes great pride in building and managing tailored client portfolios and conducting in-depth research on individual securities and funds. His commitment to excellence also extends throughout the organization, as he actively participates in various operational and service functions across the firm.

Prior to joining Beverly Hills Private Wealth, Nick held the position of Director of Investment Research at KCS Wealth Advisory, where he oversaw the investments of a $400 million RIA spanning equities and credit globally. Earlier in his career, he gained institutional investment experience at Hotchkis & Wiley Capital Management, a prominent value-oriented fund manager headquartered in Los Angeles. He began his professional journey by analyzing public equity opportunities for a $2 billion global value manager.

Nick holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley and is a Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®). His passion for investing started early, and he has shared his insights in the field by contributing to reputable platforms and publications. Outside of his professional life, Nick enjoys various physical activities such as basketball, running and tennis. In addition, he dedicates his free time to volunteering for several reading and rescue organizations.

Alaina Park

Alaina is our Chief of Staff and dedicates herself to providing outstanding service and attention to our clients and their families. She handles a wide range of client accounting and administrative services, and can be counted on to assist our clients with their daily needs.

Alaina joined the team at Merrill Lynch Wealth Managementin 2018 and is proud to now call Beverly Hills Private Wealth home. Alaina graduated from theUniversity of San Diego with a major in Business Administration.  She is fluent in Korean and loves to travel. Alaina enjoys playing golf, and as a true foodie, you can always count on her to know the best new restaurants in town. 

Karen Washington

Karen has worked in relationship management and private wealth management for over 30 years, with a specialty in client support and estate administration. Karen started her career in the airline industry and in non-profit management, then began working with Scott at Smith Barney Beverly Hills in 1995 and continued with he and Ira in the move to Merrill Lynch in 2006. Considered a valued team member and highly regarded by clients, after a brief retirement, Karen joined Beverly Hills Private Wealth.

With a background in Psychology from Spelman College and Claremont Graduate University, Karen is celebrated for her instinctive execution in client engagement and strategic thought leadership, which she delivers with critical thinking, creativity , integrity, and compassion. As a result, clients have come to know her as a stalwart fixture on the team in whom they can trust to decipher and resolve complex issues.

Karen and her husband, Stan enjoy global travel, art, and spending time with their adult children. They reside in View Park, CA with dreams of one day retiring in Northern Italy.

Jose-Pablo Buerba

Jose-Pablo joined the team shortly after he began working at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in February 2019 and has quickly become an integral player in our daily operations and client service.

Jose-Pablo has extensive international experience having lived and worked in over 24 countries across all continents where he wrote books and articles analyzing investment opportunities in emerging economies. His international life began after he graduated from Georgetown University and played professional soccer in Mexico, China, and the Middle East. An avid music lover, he writes and produces professionally for himself and for others in his free time. 

Andrew Fuller, CRPC™

Andrew began his career in 2020 at Bank of America Merrill Lynch as a Relationship Manager, before transitioning into the role of Financial Solutions Advisor in 2021. He joined Beverly Hills Private Wealth in 2022 as one of their first new hires. His experience in both prior roles gives him deep insight into what is important to our clients, the value of the relationships he creates, and the meaning of dependable client service. Andrew attended the University of Arizona where he received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the Eller College of Management. A California native, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, eating great food, and watching sports.

Adrian Escalante

Adrian’s career began in the hospitality industry, working closely with the management structure of high end hotels, country clubs, and movie studios throughout Los Angeles, Orange County, and Santa Barbara. Born with an entrepreneurial spirit, Adrian has long been interested in financial services and recently transitioned into the industry before joining Beverly Hills Private Wealth.

Adrian owes his motivation to his father’s success, demonstrating to him at a young age the value of hard work and his mother reminding him to always be humble. He proudly visits family in Mexico to see the dream house his parents built in Jalisco. Adrian lives an active lifestyle, regularly going to the gym and meeting his brother at a driving range.

In his free time he enjoys checking out new restaurants, going to the beach with his girlfriend, and riding horses with his dad.
